Zion National Park March 16

Zion Canyon has two spectacular scenic drives, we chose the that takes you towards Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon. It is 11 miles each way, including a 1.1 mile tunnel.  There are a lot of pictures.

This is just a short tunnel, the longer one at 1.1 miles in length. Vehicles are limited to 11ft 4 inches in height and 7 ft 10 inches wide. If you are over that but less than 14ft 1 inch you can pay an extra $15 and they will close the tunnel down to one way traffic and let you drive down the center of the two lanes. The gypsy wagon is 12ft so we paid the extra $15 which allowed us to go and come back.

After the drive we did a 5 kilometer hike on the watchman trail. With a 194 meters of elevation
it was a good work out.

Looking out onto the visitors center and parking lot. Starting Saturday you will not be able
to take your vehicles onto the drive that we didn't take, the busses in the parking lot below
will shuttle every one along the route and let you get on and off at 6 different stops.

Spectacular scenery.
It's sort of ceremonial - to have the road closed for you when you drive a 'big limousine'! Maybe not so much when you pay for the privilege!
