Nebraska is farming country from one end to the other

A bit difficult to see but the irrigation is all done with super long pivot sprinklers The farm land is almost all irrigated here, You even seen irrigated corn fields Where is all this water coming from and will it be around forever |
|
I don't think we saw any dairy farms but thousands of black angus beef |

As we drove through Kearney ,the field were covered with Sand Cranes, looked like our fields of geese at home. A sign along the highway says it is the Sand Crane Capital |

Quite a change from driving through the mountains!
I was interested in the Sandhill Crane Capital. Google tells me 80% of the 'world's'(!) sandhills stop to rest/stage in Kearney on their migrations. The locals in Beaver Valley have started to arrive back; most of them in this area live/nest on the Bruce Peninsula. Long Point (ON) is a staging/gathering point on their way south/north from this part of the Province. Beautiful birds. However, I understand that the numbers in SW ON are becoming a nuisance for crops.
