Feb 5 Blair Valley, Ramona , Borrego Springs

Just 40 Minutes from the Pacific, but that will be another trip
What a difference a few miles makes. Julian is  about 2000 feet higher than Blair Valley and out of the desert. Population of 1500. It is famous for its apple pie. Every restaurant features apple pie , plus the bakeries. The town is surrounded by apple orchards, and places selling cider.
A fun place to visit with lots of  interesting shops.

All of the buildings on main street look like the 1930's
The landscape changes again as you leave Julian and head to Ramona. Now you are in rolling pasture land with beef cattle and a bit of dairy. There is even a camel farm. At one time this area was known for producing poultry but now there is only one very large egg farm.
Ramona with a population of 25000 is very interesting with lots of antique shops and tourist type of stores, being only a hour and a bit from San Diego its a popular weekend spot.

We couldn't find a place to stay in Ramona so we went on to Borrego Springs . Very interesting road. The last 10 miles are on about an 8% decline and very curvy.

From dessert lands to agricultural lands - what a difference!
I'm surprised you are so close to the coast.
Great photos with recent posts.

Kind of a shame that we don't go to the coast but it would require some extra planning to find camping spots and very expensive. That needs to be another trip that is properly planned.
