Guerrero Negro to St Ignacio Feb 11

Todays plan was to travel to St Ignacio and then walk the two and half kilometers into town, where there is a famous Mission that was built in the 1700's that we wanted to visit. It was just over 30 degrees and the sun seemed to be super hot so we decided to just relax for the afternoon and catch up on some reading. We plan to walk into town in the morning when it is cooler.

St Ignacio is an Oasis in the middle of the desert. You drive for miles through the desert and then you arrive in this area that is full of date palms. The river that we are camped beside originates higher up in the mountain and eventually feeds in to the laguna in the Pacific side.  This campsite cost us 1500 pesos or about $10.00 Canadian, pretty nice spot.

This duck came out of the water and decided to have  a rest in the shade. If you look closely the right front tire is off the ground. We are really enjoying the hydraulic leveling system. It is amazing when camping on uneven sites.

This wasn't the first time the duck had gone camping

The brown clusters in the palms are dates

It's -25C this morning, so I decided to not go out until it warms up a bit later. Just the opposite of your decision to not walk yesterday afternoon in the heat! It makes your pictures look all the more appealing.
