Back to Santispac Feb 18

This is our friend Shel, the next door beach neighbor.  He is from Nanaimo BC and has been coming here since 1983, the only year he missed was last year due to covid. He spends the 6 winter months on the  beach, fishing and touring around in his boat. His son came down with him but returned home and  is due back shortly to help him drive home. The rest of the time he hangs out here by himself, that might sound pretty cool for any one but I think it is extra special because we helped him celebrate his 90th birthday on Saturday. A couple of times a week he drives in Mulege for supplies or what ever.

Last year due to covid he couldn't come down so he spent the winter building the steering setup for his boat out of plywood and and then fiber glassed it all. He found the steering wheel and cables etc on Amazon. It has 25 hpw motor with power trim and start. I just want to mature like this guy!!!  LOL

Our Captain
He took Rose and I for a tour of the bay area in his boat , and the highlight was a resort that some one built way of the main road , but you could get there with a 4x4.   Some one spent a major amount of money on this as it was built with the best materials, but there has been none there for the last 5 years at least.
There were two Yurts like this fully furnished with bedrooms, sitting areas, and every thing you would need to just move in.

Stainless steel frames etc, still in perfect condition
even though they have not been used in the last 5 years.

This straw covered shelter beside the beach still had all of the dining furniture in it
so you could entertain by the water

The roof of the beach gazebo, beautiful workmanship

The dining table had carved trim and legs, worth a few thousand dollars, I am sure.

The fireplace /  BBQ

Sink and serving area

The view from the gazebo

The most remarkable part of this story is that there was an unlocked  building
with 2 large portable generators and a pressure water system in it.

Peoples opinion of Mexico is very distorted.
How long do you thing that the furniture and generators would last
in a place like this in Canada or the USA

Congratulations to your neighbour on celebrating his 90th birthday! Wow - what an inspiration!
It would be interesting to learn more about the story/history of the abandoned 'resort' in the pictures you posted.
