Today was supposed to be a quiet day with a visit to the Petrified National park about 15 miles away, but life took a bit of a twist. Our fridge stopped working. The propane burner was working properly but it was not generating any cold. The closest repair depot was in Show Low about 50 miles away. The gentleman there was really good and explained that it was one of two issues, a defective thermostat, or a new fridge. He suggested we remove the thermostat all together and if the fridge got cold we would only have to replace the thermostat at $45, instead of a new fridge at $2000.00. Fortunately it turned out to be the thermostat.
In the afternoon we visited the Petrified National Forest and got some much needed exercise after the 4 days of travel. We had visited this park in 2020 but had not taken the time to really get to learn about it.

| Rio Puerco is the site of a Pueblo that contained maybe 100 rooms and as many as 200 people. It was inhabited between AD 1250 and 1380. Archaeologists have only excavated about 1/3 of the site. |

We had to be out of the park by 5 pm so we ran out of time to get the visit the area with the petrified wood. We will be back
