Feb 6 Hiking to the telegraph trail

Our first real hike of the year

We started to climb this peak but it proved to tough for the first time out,
very steep and and loose rocks that made for poor footing.
At the top beside the flag and cross there is supposed to be a bible
where you can go to meditate. maybe pray for a safe descent.

A lonely cactus inn the distance, looked out of place

Part of the 2nd trail heading towards the towers

They call this the telegraph trail, I guess the trail predates cell phone towers.

A look back at Yuma. Not visible in the pictures , but a lot more rvs than homes
at this time of year

Wow ... that looks like a rather bleak and barren area. Loose rocks aren't much fun to hike on; it looks like there are many other choices without much traffic! How or why does one cactus survive? Do all those towers mean you would have cell service? Lera

Cactus grow frequently by them selves with often many meters between them. What I thought was interesting, was how it was all alone up at the peak.

Cell service is pretty good any place here.
